As a business tendering for the design and installation of specialist autoclave equipment for large multi-national government funded projects. Aero Thermal was often required to gain ISO9001 certification in order to fulfil specific tender conditions. The timeframe for implentation of a product design and manufacturing documented business system during 2008 was tight and resulted in a great deal of effort for RDA and ourselves in order to prepare the necessary documentation and records for the LRQA certification audit.
Certification was subsequently achieved within the timings that we had planned for at the outset of the project. This has enabled us to compile contract tender documentation for customers with the added confidence of having recongised certification in place.
John continues to support us with the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the business systems following on from the initial certification, with preparation for the first surveillance visit well underway.

Before working with RDA, I felt we had a pretty good business that was like a part-finished jigsaw: there were several clusters of pieces already fitted together so we had an idea what the full picture should be but we needed help to pull it all together into one.
Apart from the obvious fact that we can now "tick the box" for ISO9001 and ISO14001 on tender applications, the preparation and implementation of an Integrated Management System enabled us to review all our business processes and planning systems. We now have clearly defined Objectives in a proper Business Plan, supported by a Training Plan and Environmental Development programme. This may sound like a selection of sound-bites from a business management course but, with the other key elements, what they actually add up to is a platform keeping me in control of the business and able to respond rapidly to changing circumstances (essential in the current climate!).
Rod and Anne helped us to set up the whole system in 2007. Since approval, Anne has continued to support us through internal and external reviews and updates. As a result, we have now completed the initial registration and two surveillance visits without any non-compliances.
People sometimes ask me whether the cost of implementing an IMS can be justified commercially.
I think the answer is obvious.

I first became aware of RDA Consultancy, or as it was then known Rod Darch Associates over 10 years ago, when as a Director of BDL Systems I selected them from a short list of consultants to help introduce ISO 9001 into the company. I choose them at the time because they were not just involved in introducing a Quality system or making a sale, I felt they wanted to offer us a system that suited us, they were working with us to build for the future. Working together we achieved both the time and financial budgets we had set, leaving us not only a system but a framework for the future, also a consultancy that was a point of reference when help was required.

Tendering for contracts with various regional authorities and companies within the UK, Unicard were required to gain accredited ISO9001 certification in order to fulfil specific tender conditions.
The timing for the implementation of a documented business system (incorporating the quality management system) during 2009 was completed to schedule, requiring a concentrated effort (with support from RDA Consultancy) in order to prepare the necessary documentation and records for the LRQA certification audit. Improvements to the company software systems also facilitated the implementation of the required controls.
ISO9001:2008 Certification was subsequently achieved at the certification audit. This now enables us to compile contract tender documentation for customers with the confidence of having recognised ISO9001 certification in place. Further advantages of having defined business processes controlled and subject to review have also been evident.
RDA Consultancy continues to support us with the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the business systems following on from initial certification audit, with preparation for the first surveillance visit currently underway.
